Welcome to the Department of Civil Engineering Technology (DCET) where good and world-class education is the number one priority of our staff. The programs offered in the department have been carefully designed to be hands-on so that they directly meet the needs of the civil engineering sector both nationally and internationally. DCET graduate engineers pride themselves in solving engineering problems that directly affect the public’s quality of life and health. These graduates are vital to the nation’s effort to build and maintain the public infrastructure and protect the nation’s natural resources.
Successful graduates from academic programs offered in DCET obtain a qualification of a high and globally competitive standard and would therefore be adequately qualified to pursue employment in any civil engineering sector.
Responsibilities
Professional development and responsibilities include planning, design and construction of physical infrastructures in addition to management and inspection of construction process. These include buildings, bridges, highways, streets, parks, dams, drainage and irrigation systems, water supply and sewer collection systems, and commercial and industrial facilities.
