UTG Admission 2023 – Using the Application Form

UTG 2023 Admission Application is open. University of the Gambia application for admission for 2023/2024 was opened on 26th July 2023 and is expected to close on August 15th 2023.

Candidates are advised to apply before the closing date and also requested to fill in authentic and valid email addresses and telephone numbers to enable them to receive SMS alerts about their admission status and also admission letters on their emails.

There are also University of the Gambia (UTG) requirements for students’ admission. Students, however, should meet the requirements to stand a chance of gaining admission.

Therefore, admission requirements are based on internally recognized standards. Prospective candidates apply through the university portal (www.utg.gm) and upon a successful application, the students are issued with admission letters, student identification cards and a comprehensive academic calendar detailing lecture periods, holidays, tuition fee payment modalities and relevant information.

General University of The Gambia Admission Requirements

The academic requirements for admission at UTG are:

  1. Senior Secondary School Leaving Certificate (grade 12) with four (4) credits, which include, English Language, Mathematics and at least 2 science subjects (Biology, Health Science, Chemistry or Physics) at not more than two sittings
  2. An assistant certificate in any of the said disciplines, Public Health or Nursing certificates or its equivalent from a recognized institution with more than one year of work experience.
  3. All non-English speaking applicants from the ECOWAS region are required to acquire qualifications equivalent to those specified above. International applicants whose primary medium of instruction is not English are required to offer an internationally recognized English language proficiency certificate.

UTG Undergraduate Admission 2023 for s

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission to undergraduate degree programmes in the University of The Gambia from 26th July to August 15th 2023.

Applicants are required to make payment of D300 while Mature Students pay D500 for the online application and subsequent payment of D600 for each WASSCE result verification to any Trust Bank Limited Branch in The Gambia. Upon making payments at the bank, the applicant will receive a pin code via SMS on his/her valid phone number within 48 hours (otherwise call 3650018/3650031), which he/she will use to access an online application form on the UTG Portal (utg.gm) . Applicants are advised to issue their personal phone numbers when making payment at the bank. The following documents must be scanned and uploaded in JPG or PDF format:

  1. WASSCE, GCE or its equivalent
  2. ID card, passport or birth certificate
  3. A passport-size photo
  4. Bank receipts.

Admission Criteria for Mature Students

  1. Must be thirty (30) years or above
  2. Minimum of five (5) years of work experience
  3. At least three (3) credits including either Mathematics or English language

Candidates are requested to fill in authentic and valid phone numbers and email addresses to enable them to receive SMS alerts about their admission status and also admission letters on their emails.

NOTE: Candidates applying to the School of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences. (Medicine, Nursing, Public and Environmental Health) are requested, in addition to their online applications, to submit hard copies of their application forms to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid in Kanifing, Peacebuilding, Faculty of Law.

Graduate Admission Requirements and Application

Applications for the various Master’s programs will be open next year. Further information about these programs will be disseminated as appropriate. Applicants are required to make a payment of D500 for the online application and a subsequent payment of D550 for each WASSCE result verification to any Trust Bank Limited Branch in The Gambia. Upon making payments at the bank, the applicant will receive a pin code via SMS on his/her valid phone number ,which he/she will use to access an online application form on the UTG Portal (www.utg.gm). The following documents are to be scanned and uploaded in JPG or PDF format:

  1. BSc Certificate
  2. University Transcript
  3. Passport or Birth Certificate
  4. A Passport-size Photo
  5. Bank Receipt

The scanned documents must be resize to form a total size of not more that 5MB before uploading. Failure to upload these documents will result to an unprocessed application.

International Students

Applicants are required to apply by making all payments to ECOBANK Gambia Limited. Please ensure that all credentials are scanned and uploaded on the application for timely processing. Also note, that it is crucial to tender valid phone numbers and/or an email address so as to receive the pin code alert from the University of The Gambia for an easy access to the UTG application portal.

Transfer

Transfer students are welcome to apply and study at UTG. Transfer credits are evaluated by the Dean of the school concerned in consultation with the Academic Registrar. The transferability of the General Education Courses is also determined by the Office of The Registrar and the Office of the Dean concerned. A Transfer student must ensure that their transcripts, passports and at least a recommendation letter from the Dean of their faculty or a lecturer of your previous school should be scanned and sent. Courses done in the previous school will be looked into and cross-checked whether it tallies with the courses the UTG offers. If it is not in line, such applicants will have to apply as fresh students following the process above.

UTG Admission 2023: How to Apply on the portal

The University of The Gambia receives applications for admissions through the portal. FOr this reason, we have provided the steps to successfully submitting your applications (undegraduate, graduate, transfer, international) for admission.

Please read instructions carefully before completing each step to avoid any mistake

STEP 1

Fill the form on the left-hand side of the page and click on the submit button as shown at the bottom of the page to create your account, upon submission, which you will be redirected to the login page.

 

STEP 2

Login with the email and the password you have entered in the form to proceed on with your application.

 

STEP 3

Upon starting your application process you will be redirected again to a page where you need to enter your pin code, please enter your fourteen-digit pin code to unveil the UTG online admission form.

 

4. MORE INFORMATION

Please make sure you fill in all the required fields from stages 1-9 and submit the form online. UTG will notify you both through SMS and Email to inform you about the status of your online application.
